Engaging an Emotion

What sells us on a product… compels us to buy …to react… or to change?

Simple answer: Emotion.

Emotion is the number one determining factor when making a decision.

How do we best portray emotion? More so, how do we portray it in an online environment. Written content? Imagery? Visual stimulation?

All three are key to successful online marketing. Written content solidifies your message in addition to giving Google something to search for. Creative imagery connects the viewer with a scene, and causes their imagination to take over. Video gives an in depth view into the inner workings of an organization, and if done properly: builds trust, understanding, and a true connection with the viewer.

Emotional based marketing

Tell your story. Who are you? What do you do? What sets you apart?

Emotional appeal

The famous copywriter, Claude Hopkins, said:  “A mediocre salesman effects part of your business.  But, mediocre advertising effects all of your business.”

About this presentation
Never content to accept conventional wisdom, creatives love to learn things the hard way. But is it absolutely necessary? We chatted with a handful of 99% Conference attendees about the things they wished someone had told them when they were just starting out. A shortlist of the takeaways: never sacrifice what you love, find great collaborators and share your ideas, learn how to say no and stay focused, and always, always stick to your guns.

Marketing Advice for Retailers:

Author Larry Klesss: Online video is massive in its reach and scale with 6.9 billion videos viewed monthly in the U.S. in July and August of this year, and it’s quickly growing into a major component of what people do online or how they consume information and entertainment. YouTube represents a lot of the growth of online video, with 48 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute and 3 billion daily views are registered on YouTube worldwide. While viewership on TV is stagnant if not slowly decreasing year over year, online video is seeing a 50% yearly increase in viewership.

YouTube Marketing Advice For Retailers

Larry spoke with Andy Stack, Product Manager at YouTube following his keynote, “Video Convergence is Here: Get Ready!“, at the 2011 Liveclicker Video Summit, who says, online video is a valuable tool to drive brands, and is transforming the way consumers engage and conduct commerce. The use of online video in e-commerce is an opportunity you can’t afford to miss or not fully understand.

His main advice to brands and retailers is to create content, not commercials. Stack says that it’s important for retailers to develop a content strategy and not necessarily an advertising strategy, and sponsor content that matters to your community and spend money to promote content that’s tested and works.

Andy Stack is a product manager at YouTube focused on the financial performance and video analytics of YouTube content creators. Prior to YouTube/Google, Andy was a serial entrepreneur mixing media with metrics. Andy co-founded Mozes, the leader in mobile engagement around music, sports, entertainment and causes; Stata Labs, a personal media search company acquired by Yahoo!; and DealMaven, a quantitative analysis software company acquired by FactSet. He received his MBA from the Wharton School and BSE from Princeton University.

Why do talented photographers struggle in business?

Being a talented photographer with a great portfolio is not enough. To become a successful and profitable photographer you need to be a good business person and know how to market yourself and your services.

Do you love taking pictures?

That’s why most photographers fail in business

Like most photographers, I bet you got into photography because you loved taking pictures — Right? Most people don’t realize that making money with photography is an art form in itself. A lot of photographers end up working for someone else because they don’t know how to sell.

Video: I Am Park Ridge – Always

Video: I Am Park Ridge – Always

Park Ridge Health is a branch of the Adventist Health System and is located in Western North Carolina. Since its beginning in 1910, the hospital has been dedicated to the mission of healthful living within its community.
Park Ridge employed the help of Amplified Media to make a series of testimonial-type promotional videos for their annual Park Ridge Experience seminar. The videos were of a simple theme, involving interviews with both patients and employees, but what they produced were powerful, emotional responses.
To tackle this project, we used a black background juxtaposed with a simple, white chair. We decided that only one light was needed, so a softbox was used over-head to light the subjects, giving a softer, more flattering effect. The questions that were asked had the purpose of allowing the viewer to see the stories from the patient and employee perspectives.
Amplified Media greatly enjoyed working with Park Ridge Health on this project and we are very pleased with the results.

Promotional Video – First Restoration Services

Promotional Video – First Restoration Services

Promotional Video Produced for First Restoration Services Located in Asheville NC

First Restoration Services, a company that works to restore flood or fire damaged homes and businesses to pre-loss conditions in the area of Western North Carolina, contacted us, Amplified Media, to create a promotional video that showcased their disaster recovery capabilities. The purpose of this video was to build First Restoration’s social media presence by its addition to their blog, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube and will be used at expo events.
Amplified Media was able capture dynamic, on-location footage by documenting the restoration process as it happened. During the shoot we introduced the newest addition to the team, an OmniSlider motorized camera dolly, which we used to capture footage and maintain a unique point-of view. Much of the footage was filmed on the scene and followed the crew during and after a house fire and flood. Also, we were able to interview the owner of First Restoration, Chris Silliman, who filled us in on why his company is unlike any other.

First Restoration Services is dedicated to restoring homes and businesses of any size to pre-loss condition. Whether it’s water damage or fire damage, they have the resources to meet your needs. Their state-of-the-art facilities, together with qualified staff and skilled technicians, will complete the job from start to finish. First Restoration Services works primarily in Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, and Transylvania Counties, more specifically in Asheville, Brevard, Hendersonville, and the Waynesville area. For over 20 years they have provided customers with the most professional services and experienced staff. Simply stated, “Disasters Happen. We take care of them all.”
